Released in April 1976, the single was certified Gold by the RIAA on Oct. 19, 1976 for one million copies sold. The track, also known as "Give Up the Funk (Tear the Roof off the Sucker)" appeared on Parliament's 1975 album Mothership Connection. It reacjhed #5 on the Billboard Hot Soul Singles and #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. It also has
